See what you actually keep from an eBay UK sale after category-based Final Value Fees, per-order charges, the Regulatory Operating Fee, listing costs, advertising, VAT and other real selling expenses.
UK-registered private sellers generally pay no domestic final value fee or regulatory operating fee on standard non-Motors sales. eBay supplies 300 free listings monthly (400 for eligible private Shop users); further listings are 35p each. Overseas delivery attracts a 3% international fee. Optional listing upgrades and advertising may still cost money. Business sellers instead pay a category-based final value fee, a fixed per-order fee, a 0.35% regulatory fee and applicable costs.
For business sellers, the fixed charge is 30p on orders totalling £10 or less and 40p on orders above £10. Some selected Collectables and Home category orders totalling £10 or less qualify for 10p. This applies once per checkout order, not once per item. This calculator models a one-item order; use settlement amounts for multi-item orders.
Everything Else 12.9%, Books 9.9%, Business/Office/Industrial 12.5%, Crafts 12.9%, and general Health & Beauty 10.9%. Certain Digital Cameras, Laptops, Tablets, Mobile Smartphones and other listed exception categories use 6.9% on the first £1,000 of the item-level fee base and 3% on the remainder. A £1,200 eligible item has a £75 variable final value fee, before the fixed fee, regulatory fee and any VAT. Select the exact eBay-listed subcategory; do not apply a parent rate blindly to exceptions.
For Everything Else at £100, the final value variable fee is £12.90, fixed per-order fee £0.40, and regulatory fee £0.35. Total platform fees before fee VAT and optional charges are £13.65. With £40 goods cost and no other costs, estimated profit is £46.35.
Amounts in eBay's Business rate card exclude VAT charged on seller services. VAT on goods, VAT directly collected by eBay and recoverable input VAT on selling fees are separate. Enter actual amounts where applicable; seller VAT registration by itself cannot determine the treatment of every transaction.
UK-registered business sellers have destination-based International Fees: UK 0%, Eurozone & Northern Europe 1.05%, US/Canada 1.8%, other destinations 2%. Private international delivery uses 3%. For currency conversion actually carried out by eBay, its UK seller conversion charge is 2.5% up to 30 November 2026 and 2.75% from 1 December 2026.
General Promoted Listings cost applies only to an attributed sale meeting eBay requirements; Priority is cost-per-click. They can both incur charges when legitimately charged. Never assume every advertised item produced an attributed sale. Performance surcharges and Premium Service discounts require account-specific eligibility; check actual Seller Hub details.
Fee credits on refunds are not automatic. Only enter verified fee credits. Monthly Shop subscriptions and other recurring costs are allocated per order only when monthly volume is entered. Break-even and target prices recalculate category tiers and the £10 fixed-fee change rather than simply dividing by one constant rate. For absolute VAT amounts, price-dependent actual fees or seller fee credits, safe solving is unavailable because a new-price fee cannot be inferred.

Independent estimate for UK-registered accounts listing on eBay.co.uk; eBay Motors, eBay Live, bulk baskets and unsupported subcategory exceptions require actual settlement data.
Standard UK domestic private sales have no final value or regulatory operating fee, but listing allowance overages, upgrades, advertising and international orders can still incur charges.
eBay UK includes payment processing in the final value fee structure and does not add a universal extra UK card processing fee.
Final value, regulatory and international fee bases generally include buyer shipping and applicable taxes, even when the buyer tax itself is not seller revenue.
The tier applies per eligible item. For Digital Cameras or listed Computers, £1,200 has 6.9% of £1,000 plus 3% of £200, rather than a flat 3% of £1,200.
It can when both strategies legitimately generate charges; the General fee needs sale attribution, while Priority bills clicks. Use actual campaign records.
